Llewelyn is Pete Bloomberg, a native of Los Angeles who in 2021 began making wine from sourced fruit in Mendocino, California at the same cellar as Devin Myers and Caleb Leisure. Seemingly out of nowhere, Pete’s wines took me by surprise at first sip—personal in touch and pointing to a preternatural understanding of styles from both California and abroad, Llewelyn’s wines remind me of the first time that I drank a bottle of Manon in Australia. There is a freedom of touch here that could only come from a place like California or Australia, yet with an eye towards a more universal and old world heritage—fantastic stuff.
