Say what you will about Tom Lubbe, now Roussillon royalty, but the simple fact is that his wines still hit. While he may be repsonsible for hundreds of young guns imitating the style to lesser effect, Matassa is the undisputed champ of Calce. Cuvée Alexandria remains our favorite bottle year in and year out, and Brutal Orange Macabeu is textbook southern white maceration; I mean, just look at that color.
