Canta is a private cave based in Los Angeles.
We ship to most states, and take local
appointments as well. We used to do
deliveries all over LA, but in reality we are
actually only one person and we got pretty
tired of doing that, so please stop by on
a Friday to pick up your wines, or write
to schedule another day. We take our
selections pretty seriously and only offer
what we ourselves have open on the
table most evenings. All wines are organized
above by producer, first name alphabetically,
and new arrivals sit on top of the photo roll.

Jean-Baptiste Peltier
Anjou, France
Jean-Baptiste Peltier is a cop who just a few years ago took over a small plot along the Layon river, previously belonging to his father. A friend and drinking buddy of Patrick Desplats, who has acted as an informal mentor to Peltier, JB showed up on the day I was touring the Epona vineyard with some friends in early 2023 with a couple of his own bottles, and grinningly proceeded to share them with us all. If anything, these were some of the biggest surprises of that trip to the Anjou—stupefyingly easy to drink elixirs of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon blended together in pur léger jus mode; essential essences from a guy who used to work for the dark side, but hey we’ll take it now.
