l’Arbre Blanc
Saint-Sandoux, Auvergne

Jacob and Julie Von Rosen, after a two year transition period working alongside Fred and Carotte are the new proprietors of Vignoble de l’Arbre Blanc. What started as a casual “what if?” conversation on a random night at Clown Bar has become reality for the Danish pair. And after Jacob spent time working around Alsace for Bruno Schueller and Yannick Meckert just before taking over the domaine, the Von Rosen’s obsession for purity feels like it bleeds out of every glass. Across multiple visits to Saint-Sandoux, we have become convinced that Jacob and Julie are already acheiving the inconceivable act of both upholding the traditions and values of Fred and Carotte, and yet pushing the domaine to something even deeper with newly planted roots in the present. To be fair, not an easy task at hand. Recently the duo have planted Chenin Blanc, and their love for white wine is evident in their handlings of Pinot Gris in both directly pressed and macerated forms. Whereas Fred and Carotte’s whites always felt more on the casually rustic side compared to their showstopping Pinot Noirs, the new owners are coaxing a similar level of grandeur from the whites, taking advantage of this incredibly special Saint-Sandoux terroir.
