Aux Arbres
Tristan Rampon-Combrisson
Saint Julien, Beaujolais

Tristan Rampon, whose first vintage was 2021, is in his early-30s, and yet he has the eternal heart of a vigneron much more experienced. Outside of the already established names of Beaujolais, we have yet to taste wines from a nascent project in this region that feel this composed, this full of life. And while Tristan has already honed his own style, one could easily place his wines somewhere within the intersection of three of the greats: Ducroux, Jambon, Balagny. Big words, we know. But simply put, Rampon’s wines contain profound depth and that searching, unspoken quality that all of us serious drinkers look for. Tristan’s work is evidence of a grower whose intuition supersedes his scholarly foundations spent at université in the Jura, and time spent working for Raphael Saint-Cyr in Anse. Rampon will admit to learning a great deal from Raphael, but in the glass their styles are antithetical. Tristan is a devoted farmer with just over two hectares of vines, some of which have belonged to his family for many years, a multi-generational and old school Beaujolais unit that doesn’t necessarily believe in Tristan’s passion for agroforestry and vin nature. Despite his family’s views, and with focus and perseverance Rampon continues as a vigneron to watch.
