Domaine La Bohème
Patrick Bouju (Auvergne, France)
Perhaps easy to write off for the onslaught of négociant wines that seem to outnumber the proprietaries these days, Patrick Bouju remains a very talented winemaker, and a key figure in the Auvergne, the region closest to my heart. One sip of Lulu, Bouju’s Gamay d’Auvergne cuvée, especially with a bit of age, or of the namesake cuvée La Boheme, swiftly reverses any doubt. Elsewhere Picapol is white vin de soif of high order, and lest we forget Festejar, still thirst quenching after all of these years.
