Le Raisin et l’Ange
Ardeche, France

Originally formed by Gilles Azzoni in the small hamlet of Saint Maurice d’Ibie, tucked away deep in the Ardeche, Le Raisin et l’Ange (the grape and the angel) has become a bit of a legendary domaine. Endorsed early on by the natural wine culture of Japan, Nedjma and Hommage a Robert feel like the house wines of Tokyo, and while Gilles has mostly given the reigns to his son Antonin, these wines have never lost their special touch, and I believe remain gateway bottles for the natty-curious—expressions of both fun and elegance from a family domaine with deep roots in the Ardeche.
