Domaine Vinci

Roussillon, France

Domaine Vinci is the partnership of Olivier Varichon and Emmanuelle Vinci. Since the late 2000s, the pair have resided in the foothills outside Perpignan, working quite remote old vine parcels of Lledoner Pelut, Carignan, Grenache Blanc, and Macabeu, all planted to calcareous soils in the thick maquis of the Mediterranean. Working sans additifs since 2012, Vinci’s wines were previously lumped into a more conservative context here in the states, and for the most part, went unnoticed because of this, and to be frank quite unfairly so. Vinci’s wines are examples of yet another under the radar producer that all who care should be paying attention to, and exactly the sorts of bottles that we seek—ripe wines that tow the line between elegance and rawness, soulful and nuanced juices.
